While cannabidiol (CBD) is a part of the cannabis plant, those who are using it for their ailments often have little in common with those who use regular cannabis. As a non-psychoactive compound, there is no high to be had from taking CBD, which therefore makes it unappealing to the recreational user.
So, who is using CBD wholesale products? We have looked at a recent study published in the leading cannabis journal, Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research to find out.
People Who Want a Supplement
CBD has been shown to have great value as a supplement for the body, and specifically the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The benefits of regulating this system are wide ranging, and can be helpful for both physical and mental wellbeing. The survey, which look at the usage habits of more than 2400 CBD users found that around 40% of them were taking it for this purpose. The advantages of CPD for ECS regulation are a new discovery, and researchers still have much to learn in this area.
People in Pain
Top of the list for people using CBD to treat medical ailments was chronic pain. This is perhaps slightly deceiving, as pain is not a condition in itself, and was therefore could include a number of conditions. However, it is not surprising that people are experiencing pain relief from taking CBD, given that the ECS has a level of control over pain perception.
However, the apparent effectiveness of CBD for pain, as shown by this survey, is really helpful to scientists studying the topic. There has been a lot of debate as to whether CBD works for pain, or if cannabis only works when all of the ingredients are present, including THC. This report indicates that CBD is effective as a solo remedy. Now, more studies can be carried out to pin down the specific effects, with the hope of bringing a new treatment for pain to the market, that is much safer than the opioid painkillers which currently dominate the painkiller industry.
People with Arthritis
Those suffering from arthritis tend to have a poor quality of life, because of the pain that they have to endure. The survey found that this was the second most common reason for taking CBD. This is a nod to the anti-inflammatory properties of CBD, which are likely key to soothing both rheumatoid and osteoarthritis. Some CBD users like to use topical products, such as salves, creams and lotions, to provide more direct relief.
People with depression
There has been some encouraging research that CBD can help with the symptoms of depression, and the findings from the survey appear to back up. This was the fifth most common illness that people are treating with CBD. The jury is still out on how CBD may alleviate depression, but it may be thanks to a combination of reducing inflammation and treating chemical imbalance.
People with Anxiety
Anxiety is a mental illness that doesn’t always get the attention that it warrants. Symptoms of the disorder include increased fear levels, overthinking and worst-case scenario thinking. Anxiety affects tens of millions of Americans. Nearly one in six respondents to the survey said that they were taking CBD to reduce anxiety. The benefits of CBD for anxiety look to be from indirectly increasing the GABA neurotransmitter and interacting with the serotonin system.
People Who Want to Relax
While not included in the study, there are some people who use wholesale CBD products just to unwind, relax and destress at the end of the day. CBD is great for this, as it has all-round calming effects that help physically and mentally. It’s also much preferable to smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol, as you can’t get addicted to CBD, and it doesn’t have the long-term health risks. CBD is also protective for the brain, unlike alcohol.
CBD users are a versatile bunch, which shouldn’t come as a surprise since it has so many benefits. With so many uses, there are many who find that they buy CBD for one reason, and then it ends up helping them with something else altogether. Have you tried CBD yet? If not, be sure to give it a go.
