What is the difference between medicinal and recreational marijuana

In the recent past, cannabis has received a wide range of public opinion. The usage of marijuana has also increased with more states legalizing the plant. Currently, marijuana can be used for both medicinal and recreational purposes depending on where you reside.

Scientists have proven that cannabis has several therapeutic benefits regardless of how an individual consumes it or why one is taking the plant. Although cannabis has several users all over the world, only a few can differentiate medical marijuana from recreational marijuana.

As scientists continue to study the plant, here are the differences between medical and recreational marijuana.

THC and CBD Levels

Cannabidiol (CBD) and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) mark the primary difference between medical and recreational cannabis. These compounds are the active ingredients in marijuana. THC is the ingredient that makes users feel high, while CBD is a medicinal remedy for various conditions.

Recreational cannabis contains more THC levels compared to CBD. Although THC also has some medical benefits, its psychoactive nature is not ideal for individuals who wish to use marijuana only for health purposes. If you want to use medical marijuana, choose the one with high CBD levels. Both types of cannabis contain THC and CBD. However, you will have more medicinal benefits from products with higher CBD content.

Legal Issues

While marijuana has existed for a long time and used widely, some legal aspects surrounding its usage. Most countries in the world place a lot of restrictions on recreational cannabis. Those who use recreational marijuana often do so while hiding from the authorities since it is not legal. As scientists continue to discover the benefits of medical marijuana, more countries continue to accept its medicinal use. Over recent years, many nations have legalized medical marijuana. Some states and governments have also legalized recreational cannabis, but people still find it challenging to access the plant. The legal status of medical marijuana now makes it easy to obtain.

Due to the legal issues, those found with recreational marijuana in areas where it is restricted may face severe fines or jail time. As such, it is not easy to access recreational marijuana in areas where it is banned. However, you can easily access medical marijuana across the 50 states of the U.S.A and other parts of the world. Governments have relaxed the laws that govern medical marijuana, and this has increased their usage. Recreational marijuana still faces several legal issues, which hinder its availability and access.

Versatile products often receive more attention compared to those that provide one benefit. The same case applies to marijuana. Most people use recreational cannabis only for social enjoyment and personal satisfaction. For these reasons, users of recreational marijuana use stylish tools such as vape pens and glass weed pipes to consume the product. However, medical cannabis has several benefits. Unlike recreational cannabis, the product is not limited to any age group. Even the elderly and children can use medical marijuana.

While both types of marijuana come from the same plant (hemp), there is a difference between the two depending on how you wish to use the final product.
