The Importance of CBD Synergies with Other Cannabinoids

The popularity of CBD products has skyrocketed during recent years. This natural product is said to treat and support a number of health conditions, from our mind to our skin. Cannabidiol (CBD) naturally occurs in the cannabis plant and is the second most prevalent active ingredient in cannabis. While CBD is one of a hundred components found in marijuana, it doesn’t cause the ‘high’ associated with the plant.

This is due to the low to no THC content found in the extract. THC is what causes the psychoactive effects of cannabis. Even though THC in CBD products causes no problems, you may be wondering why they contain them at all. Today, we will be taking a look at the importance of CBD synergies with other cannabinoids and how it affects the overall results associated with taking CBD.

What is Synergy?

Synergy is the interaction of a number of elements that when combined, create a total effect that is better than the effect caused by the individual element. The reason synergism is so important in CBD is because it will help the user absorb more CBD, which means they are more likely to experience the benefits associated with taking this highly-versatile plant oil. The other chemicals that are combined with CBD will provide their own positive results, improving the effects of the overall product.

Cannabinoids Explained

When researching CBD, cannabinoids will most likely be the first chemical compound you will come across. CBD is a cannabinoid and is one of many found in the cannabis plant. Cannabinoids occur naturally within the human body. Any chemical compound that affects the endocannabinoid system directly is described as a cannabinoid. The endocannabinoid system is a neurotransmission network found in mammals and cannabinoids have been proven to support neurotransmitters.

The Entourage Effect

The entourage effect occurs when CBD is ingested alongside other compounds found in the cannabis plant. The theory is that by using a number of aspects of the hemp plant, instead of singling out CBD, the health benefits associated with the product will increase. To boost your chances of experiencing the entourage effect, you should avoid anything that promotes ‘pure’ CBD or CBD isolates. Instead, you should choose to consume broad-spectrum or full-spectrum CBD oil to increase your chances.

Broad and Full Spectrum CBD

Broad spectrum CBD will usually contain beneficial terpenes and other cannabinoids, such as CBC or CBG. There is usually no THC found in broad-spectrum CBD oil. A full-spectrum CBD oil that contains all of the cannabis compounds that are found in the cannabis plant would be considered the best. As long as it derives from hemp, the THC content will be lower than 0.3%, so the user won’t encounter any psychoactive effects, but the chances of experiencing the full entourage effect will be increased.

CBD oil is still a relatively new wellness item and plenty of research is required to ensure users experience the most out of their CBD products. Each strain is subtly unique in its own way, but one thing is for certain, taking the right one of this natural plant extract will benefit its user.
