3 Important Trends in the Marijuana Industry for 2019

The marijuana industry is quickly evolving at a restless pace. Catch up on the latest trends in the marijuana industry for 2019.

Legal marijuana has become a massive legal business in the past few years, and the business will continue to grow as more and more states legalize it.

The hallmark of any business is adaptation. Businesses will grow and change with the demands of the market, and the marijuana industry is no exception.

Marijuana, in particular, is in the midst of a few trends that are expected to continue in the next few years. We’ll talk more about some of these trends in the paragraphs below.

CBD Growth

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a substance derived from cannabis which does not contain THC. This means that the product cannot get you high.

As the demand for marijuana legalization has grown, the demand for CBD has grown as well. It’s expected to continue growing in the coming years.

The demand for CBD goes hand-in-hand with the use of marijuana for medical reasons. Since CBD lacks THC, it is used by patients to get the medical benefits without getting high.

For this same reason, CBD has had much more success at legalization. There are plenty of CBD, and many marijuana dispensaries also carry CBD products.

Beverages

One of the biggest concerns with marijuana is that it’s most commonly smoked. While many don’t believe that marijuana is dangerous, the idea of taking any kind of smoke into their lungs is less appealing.

In response, the marijuana industry has been working to discover an ever-expanding list of ways to take marijuana. One of the ways expected to become popular in the next few years is the creation of marijuana beverages.

Non-alcoholic beer infused with marijuana may start to hit the market, as will sodas, waters, and other beverages.

Legalization

As the popularity of marijuana, both as a medicine and for recreational use, increases, more states are expected to legalize. The most recent state to take significant action towards legalization is Illinois.

The bill, passed roughly one week ago, calls not only for full legalization for anyone 21 and over, but the release of many prisoners currently serving time for marijuana-related offenses.

It also makes it easier for those living in oppressed communities to get into the business. For these reasons, the Illinois bill has been called the most forward-thinking marijuana bills to be passed.

This is assuming of course, that it passes as expected. While Illinois will likely be the next state to legalize, chances are it won’t be the last.

Trends and Developments in the Marijuana Industry

The marijuana industry is in the middle of a boom right now, and the business is expected to continue growing as time goes by. With all that growth will come innovation and new trends.

As time passes, you may notice even more growth in the CBD industry. There may be drinks hitting the market with marijuana in them. Plus, as marijuana becomes more and more in-demand, more states will push for legalization.
